COURSE DESCRIPTION

The Philippine Language Institute is an Associate Member of ALTE (The Association of Language Testers in Europe) based in the United Kingdom, demonstrating its commitment to internationally recognized standards in language education and assessment.

Our German A1 Language Program is aligned with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) and follows globally accepted benchmarks for beginner-level proficiency. The program equips learners with essential German communication skills for everyday situations, work preparation, study, and migration purposes.

This is a self-paced program, allowing students to study anytime and anywhere at their own convenience. Through structured lessons, guided exercises, and practical assessments, learners develop confidence in speaking, listening, reading, and writing in German.

Upon successful completion, students are prepared for internationally recognized A1 examinations and progression to higher levels of German language training.


🇩🇪 GERMAN A1 COURSE SUMMARY

(Aligned with CEFR A1 Level)

The German A1 course provides foundational knowledge in grammar, vocabulary, and sentence structure necessary for basic communication in everyday situations.

1️⃣ Foundations of the German Language

  • German Alphabet (including Ä, Ö, Ü, ß)

  • Pronunciation rules

  • Basic spelling skills

  • Word formation (e.g., adding -in, un-, noun + noun, adjective + “los”)

2️⃣ Basic Sentence Structure

  • Subject–Verb Agreement

  • Verb Conjugation (regular & irregular verbs)

  • Sentence Formation (statements and simple sentences)

  • Inversion (verb position in sentences)

  • Word order in main clauses

3️⃣ Question Forms

  • W-Questions (wer, was, wann, wo, warum, wie, etc.)

  • Yes/No Questions (Ja/Nein Frage)

  • Usage of doch

  • Creating simple responses

4️⃣ Articles & Nouns

  • Definite Articles (der, die, das) – Nominative

  • Indefinite Articles (ein, eine)

  • Negative Articles (kein, keine)

  • Singular and Plural forms

  • Accusative case (definite/indefinite)

  • Genitive with proper names

5️⃣ Pronouns

  • Personal Pronouns (er, sie, es)

  • Pronouns in Nominative, Accusative, and Dative

  • Possessive Articles (mein, dein, sein, ihr)

6️⃣ Cases (Basic Introduction)

  • Nominative

  • Accusative

  • Dative (with verbs and prepositions)

  • Introduction to Genitive

7️⃣ Prepositions

  • Temporal Prepositions:
    am, um, von…bis, ab, vor, nach, in (+ Dativ), für (+ Akkusativ)

  • Local Prepositions (Wo? + Dativ)

  • Prepositions with Dative: mit, bei

  • Prepositions with Accusative

  • Prepositions: mit, ohne

8️⃣ Verb Tenses

  • Present Tense (Präsens)

  • Verb Conjugation with vowel change

  • Modal Verbs:
    können, mögen, möchten, wollen, sollen, müssen, dürfen

  • Sentence structure with modal verbs

  • Separable Verbs

  • Perfect Tense (Perfekt) with haben

  • Expanding sentence structure
